How much trim does Steam require?
The public wording for Trim and Proper is more than 50m on a single dress. Fifty segments are not fifty metres, and buying a roll does not establish that all of it reached the garment. Keep one project and one length record.
chaseit’s community guide recommends buying 51 metres as a practical buffer after a player reported that an apparent 50-metre attempt fell short. That is attributed advice, not a new official minimum or a promise that every 51-metre purchase unlocks the achievement.
How can you keep a useful length record?
Start with a clearly recorded quantity of one trim. Note additional purchases and what remains after placement. If the interface gives a direct used-length readout, prefer that over an estimate from the visual outline. Treat stock subtraction as a check only while you can account for removals, returns and use on other garments.

Where should the trim go?
For an editorial design exercise, repeat a limited set of edges around the skirt or bodice, then inspect them from several angles. There is no supported universal layout that guarantees this achievement. Do not force all the length into a difficult cuff solely to keep the front view tidy.
Build 443 explicitly discusses cuff-placement frustration and trim changes. Use current placement checks and inspect old trim before adding another long section. The lace guide distinguishes trim from lace fabric, which cannot be assumed to contribute trim length.
When should you record success?
The player guide’s author reports checking this after finishing the dress. Complete your attempt, confirm Steam’s actual state and keep the final length evidence. For a customer commission, check the brief as well. If the visible total and unlock disagree, preserve the build and measurements rather than declaring that an arbitrary extra segment fixes every case.
